Biography
Born Dublin, 05/06/1978
David Lamb, HERO-ERA’s Senior Engineer is an experienced and passionate technical guru who brings his wealth of talents to the company.
David who was born in Dublin is a proud Irishman whose parents Eddie and Shelagh Lamb both competed in Rallying in the mid to late 70s and early 80s.David’s mother was Ladies Class winner on the Circuit of Ireland in 1978, whilst his father was more of the clubman driver who loved the events, but enjoyedthe social side of the sport just as much alongside his navigator Murragh McElroy. Murragh also acted as a service-crew member for his mum Shelagh on rallies.
After David was born, his parents both switched to Midget Car racing and Autocross in the MRCCI Championship in Ireland, his father was building and developing both cars for himself and his mum and they were both successful on track.
As David said; “By this point I had arrived and from as early as 12 weeks of age I was a regular at the likes of Mondello and spectating with my parents on national rally stages. So as you can see, I didn't stand much of a chance, I was destined to be involved in motorsports!
“I started professionally with TTI in Rathoath, Co. Meath in 2003 (I'd spent most of my youth spannering with my dad) and soon after that moved to join the team at Murray-Motorsports in Walkinstown, Dublin.
“From there I was involved in Racing, Rallycross, Rallying and more, so I’ve been in the front line of motorsports for the majority of my professional career, working for many Tier One companies along the way.”
David demonstrated his versatility and skill in 2013 when he started operatingwith top level Drifting in Ireland and the UK, and says he was, “lucky enough to spanner for the likes of Duane McKever, Jack and Conor Shanahan, to name but a few I’ve had the pleasure to help over the years.”
David counts himself lucky when he met his Fiancée in 2015. “Funnily enough it was at a Drift event, and we have been together ever since! Kirsty and I have been all round Europe and Ireland competing, with myself running her drift car ‘Syril-the-Silvia,’ and Kirsty doing the fun bit and steering it!
“Towards the end 2016 I moved to the UK and moved in with Kirsty, I was fortunate enough to get a job with BGM sport in Brackley.
“I've worked for many great companies in my time in the UK, the likes of Hypermotive for example, working on the new W1 development (DC/DC) and also as a Commissioning Lead on the Valkyrie project for Aston Martin Lagonda in Gaydon,
ironing out teething issues and the final finish of one of the most complex road cars ever built.
“Most recently I've been working in the Aerospace Industry as an AIT Team Lead/Manager for a Space Company in the Harwell Campus, setting up a new building and build rooms and getting them certified for the likesof ISO level 5 clean rooms and setting up to build satellite's and eventually the build of the satellites.”
David has also competed for many years in motorsports, from the Peugeot 106 GTi Cup Cars to Mitsubishi Evos, and says he tested and played with many others!
He last competing properly in 2012, but it is clear he is not just a motorsport professional, he has loved every bit of his work so far and there is more to come, not just in his job as Senior Engineer for HERO-ERA.
David explains; “Things may change soon as I've recently bought an off-road Buggy to start competing again!
“ I find myself fortunate enough to be the Senior Engineer here at HERO-ERA where I’m working on a fantastic variety of machines from gorgeous Vintage Rileys to renovating a classic Mk1 Land Rover. We have some tremendous Arrive Drive rally cars, some of which are in build with us,such as the Peugeot 504 Rallye which when finished, will be again the long-distance rally warrior it once was.”
HERO-ERA is indeed very fortunate to have such a talented engineer with such skill and diversity of experience, leading the technical programme.
